After night one of American Idol’s Hollywood round, Andrew Garcia proved himself the one to beat. Doing his soulful, acoustic version of Paula Abdul’s “Straight Up” was, in my opinion, the most memorable, original opening salvo in Idol history. What a tribute to Paula too. (Even though she says she’s not watching this season, my bet is she was sitting in her bed with whatever cocktail and cheering him on with her over-the-head seal clap. I’m betting on Andy for Top 10.
