Forget Lost! It’s so yesterday. Set your DVR’s for next week’s “Glee” Gaga episode, acoustic “Poker-Face” included! While the original Queen of Pop may have turned down a chance to appear on the show, I hear Lady G will make a fabulous entrance and each character will get their own Gaga garb. This calls for a theme party!

Try Sporcle’s mentally stimulating diversions to keep your gray matter in check. See how many states you can name in 10 minutes, and once you master Cali to Carolina, move on to African countries! American Hype – LeBron James NYC
On July 1, The Cav’s LeBron James becomes a free agent and may sign with a new team on July 8. No one is vying harder to get LeBron in their jersey than the New York Knicks. Major publications in the
Empire State, like New York Magazine, are begging for LeBron to consider the Knicks. But ESPN columnists are asking if the Big Apple has reduced to begging? Apparently, yes. Mayor Bloomberg is even cheerleading the move, saying New York is the world’s greatest stage. Well, duh. If you can dunk it here, you can dunk it anywhere!
American Fun – Glee Flash Mob
I am crossing my fingers that this will happen to me: I’ll be standing in the middle of NYC and I’ll hear the opening
strains of Glee’s (Journey’s) hit, “Don’t Stop Believin’.”
Suddenly, dozens of people stop checking their Blackberries and break into synchronized dance moves. More and more join the dance, and suddenly I’m in the middle of a spontaneously combusted musical…the center of a Glee Flash Mob. Sure enough, tiny bits of the fun musical theatre show are hitting cities worldwide. Check out Madrid, Seattle, and Ohio. Watch the contagious excitement of the real people in the crowd. Please, oh please, I want a Glee Flash Mob moment! Will your town be next?
Life 101 – Getting greener
Here’s a fun fact about getting green: Much of it isn’t new. According to thedailygreen, many of the earth friendly tips people are ‘discovering’ are things our grandparents did every day. I remember the sheets at my grandmother’s house always smelled spring-tastic and after reading their tips have committed to hanging out my clothes this summer. Check out The Daily Green’s features, including “7 Lost Household Arts” and “30+ ways to save money by going green.”

Gardening – Planting Season
As summer approaches, it is time to garden! Even if you only have room for a few plants–plant something! It’s one of my secrets to a happy life. My theory is that taking care of something living brings more life to your life. I got a little too eager beaver this year and planted my vegetable garden on a warm day in April. Last week’s cold snap claimed a few tomatoes and my farmer neighbor admonished me: “Don’t you know not to plant until after the first new moon after Mother’s Day.” Now I know! (At left, me beginning a lifelong project by planting the first grapevine in Edgewater Farm’s new vineyard.) The Farmer’s Almanac is a great resource for such tips, including: “When the leaves on the ash tree are as big as a squirrel’s paw, it is time to plant corn.” May sound corny, but farmer’s swear by it! Happy planting!
