Susan Boyle is Glee-ful!
Susan Boyle and the music of Paul McCartney will be in the new season of Glee. Seems that all musical geniuses are lining up for their turn on the hit show. Susan Boyle, of YouTube fame, will be on the Christmas-themed episode playing a school lunch lady and conveniently dishing out publicity for her forthcoming Christmas album. As for Sir Paul McCartney, the former Beatle sent mixed tapes offering his songs!

Dinner Party Talk – Froot Loops
Nothing like a bowl of Os you can't pronounce.
The Washington Post has a very frightening, enlightening article today on what exactly is in Froot Loops. The answer is, um, U.S. regulators aren’t really sure. The FDA has no data on the impact on health of one of its chemical ingredients, 2-methylnaphthalene. Why? The Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976 exempted from regulation 62,000 chemicals that were already in commercial use — including 2-methylnaphthalene! (Which according to SpecLab’s Chemical Fact Sheet is “a petroleum-based insecticide that may cause skin irritation.” Yum. “And they smell good too!” Oh, well, you can either watch this Vintage Froot Loop commercial or run out and get yourself a copy of the Academy Award nominated Food, Inc. (One will entertain you, the other will make you rethink what you eat.) Enjoy your dinner.
Garage Sales – Bruce on Star 93.3
A weekend hunting treasure.
This morning I was on my favorite Hudson Valley radio station, Star 93.3, talking great garage sale finds with the fun Mark Bolger and sassy Kimberly Kay. (Vote for her on Regis & Kelly’s guest host competition!) Mark asked me what my weirdest garage sale find was of all time… A collection of human hair! But the grossest? A half used tube of Preparation H! (It was a quarter!) For more of my interview, tune in to 93.3 tomorrow around 7:30 a.m. And vote for Kimberly Kay on Regis & Kelly’s guest host competition!)

Dinner Party Talk – Obama on The View
I love when a President talks pop culture. Remember when George Bush was on The Price is Right and had no idea how much the price of milk was?
I ask you, have YOU heard of Snooki?
Dinner Party Talk – Carrot flutes
My vegetable garden got me inspired to think of cool recipes and things to do with my veggies this weekend. While looking around for recipes, I found and listened to this unbelievable Vegetable Orchestra. It’s a must watch! As much as I’d love to make a carrot flute like those guys, my talents are less musically-inclined. So, I sent my grandparents the first fresh veggie batch of the season from my garden and threw a huge dinner party this weekend. I served nothing but homegrown to my guests using the supremely talented Ina Garten‘s cherry tomato pasta sauce recipe. That was music to my mouth.
American Fun – Grammar Snobs
Everyone knows someone who’s a grammar snob. (Especially that rather annoying breed who likes to keep tabs on “well” and “good”. For example, “You did good!” is constantly followed by a snippy, “Don’t you mean ‘well?'” Anyway, moving on.) Merriam-Webster has a cool new Ask the Editor feature, sure to thrill all wordsmiths, where associate editor Kory Stamper discusses common grammar errors. Is it “octopuses” or “octopi”? It’s all and more! Just ask Kory, who, in my opinion, misspells her own name.
Animal fun – The Zedonk

A Zedonk is cuteness defined.
You’re looking at a Zedonk… an adorable cross between a donkey and a zebra. She’s becoming a star attraction at the Chestatee Wildlife Preserve in Dahlonega, Georgia after being born there about a week ago. She has black stripes that she gets from her zebra father and a great ass she gets from her donkey mother. (But that’s just my opinion!)
C.W. Wathen, the preserve’s founder, said the foal has a zebra’s instincts, sitting up to stay alert for predators rather than lying on her side. Awww. I’m in love.
