Life 101 – Courage

Congrats to my gorgeous friend Jodi Kaye who last night received a Courage Award from Voices Against Brain Cancer at The Hammerstein Ballroom. In 2010, Jodi was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. A 17-month course of chemotherapy decreased her tumor by 40%, and increased her spirit and determination by 4000%! Since her diagnosis, Jodi has completed a half-triathlon, worked as PTA Vice President for her twin’s elementary school and led an effort to adopt a Far Rockaway school flooded by Hurricane Sandy. At the 8th annual fundraising night, the incredible Wailers (Bob Marley’s band!) performed and the food was delicious, but it was Jodi’s emotional speech that brought down the house. She said she wakes up each morning grateful for her life and ever more determined to live it big. I’m lucky to have such a brave friend. She’s an ambassador of hope, strength and positive outlook.
