For the girl who has it all (and an extra half million)
In my book
Garage Sale America, I tell about the birth of Barbie Millicent Roberts. Originally, sold for $3, the highest priced “Barbie #1” sold to date is $17,091 in 2006 at Christie’s London. But I might have to revise that in future versions because Barbie is getting ready to smash that record when Christie’s New York auctions jewelry designer Stefano Canturi’s custom designed Barbie wearing a rare 1-carat pink diamond on October 20th. According to
USA TODAY, pre-auction estimates are $300,000 to $500,000. All proceeds will benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in support of breast cancer awareness month. Now, that’s a lot of sparkle.
