This will get your weekend started with a nice beat. Guaranteed to be a big summer anthem, here’s Kylie Minogue’s next single, “All the Lovers.”
(Sexy snapshot from the music video shoot at left.)
Kylie’s back and her new album, Aphrodite, lands July. Until then, I’ll keep listening to this over and over on Youtube.
Dance, it’s all I want to do! Move your feet! Shake your hips! Toss your hair and have some fun this weekend, friends!
Life 101 – Kylie’s All the Lovers
Dinner Party Talk – Facebook
Facebook privacy (or lack thereof) is today’s buzz. Seems that if you’re on Facebook your information (both public and private might not be safe) given that you have to hassle through 50 settings with more than 170 options. It can make you cuckoo. Huffpost has posted a video of everything you need to know to control your privacy on Facebook in under 2 minutes. Highly recommended. Enjoy your dinner in private!
Talented kids – Greyson on Ellen
Greyson Chance, the 12-year-old who has become the overnight sensation thanks to his version of Lady Gaga’s Paparazzi. I think he’s… this year’s AMERICAN IDOL! In my opinion, he’s much more exciting than any of the final bunch. Here’s his appearance from today’s Ellen, in which Lady G calls in to congratulate him on his talent. This is the kind of thing that just makes you smile a happy smile.
Dinner Party Talk – Cholesterol
Heart disease is America’s leading cause of death. Butter, cheese, ice cream, French fries (the good things in life) are cloggers and clogged arteries = heart attack! Both my granddads had heart attacks, so I’m trying to lower my risk. Recently at dinner, my former building super Manuel and his wife gave me the Guatemalan secret for lower cholesterol: a tablespoon of uncooked oatmeal in a glass of water, cover overnight, drink it first thing every morning. I’ve been trying it. So far, no heart attack! I’ll keep you posted.
Talented kids – Dumb parents!
Since you’re going to hear about this exploitative version of Beyonce’s Single Ladies, I thought I’d post it and have a little discussion. There is no doubt that these 7-year-old girls are talented! What is questionable is why their parents would let them put on provocative stripper outfits and jiggle about?! It’s a little too JonBenet for me. Or is this the twenty-ten version of Elvis’s hip shaking? What do you think?
Quick Fixes – Need to Know
My uber talented friend Shelley Lewis is the executive producer of the new “Need to Know” on PBS, which premiered last Friday night. The show (and its accompanying website) will feature topics each week about which we all should be informed from the environment (oil spill!) to culture (Facebook privacy).
I enjoyed the feature on Emily Pilloton, the curator of the Design Revolution Road Show, who is touring the country with an Airstream packed with products designed to make the world a better place… genius items like “Adaptive Eyewear” (above), which allows people in developing countries to adjust their own prescriptions without the expensive services of an optometrist. Watch all the brilliant ideas to make the world better here.
American Pets – Delta loses dog!
This story has torn my heart out. And make me want to never fly Delta Airlines again. Consumerist is reporting that Josiah Allen was flying back with Mexico with his dog Paco on Delta. He made it. The dog didn’t. Somewhere south of the border, Delta lost his dog. Worse still, what they offered him? A $200 refund of his pet transportation fee! I would, I believe, be incarcerated for what I would have done next if Delta lost my dog.
UPDATE #1: Delta Offers $380 Plus 2 More $200 Vouchers For Lost Pooch
UPDATE #2: Delta spokesperson Susan Elliott says, “This is extremely rare for a situation like this to happen.” She says that they are going to be offering Josiah “additional compensation as well as our sincere apology.”
Talented Kids – Greyson’s Paparazzi
Please welcome to the blog sixth-grader Greyson Michael Chance as he performs an unbelievably wonderful version of Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” at Edmond’s Sixth Grade Festival. Watch the smiling, giggling gaggle of young girls surrounding him. They could definitely start a bad romance.
I’m inspired.
