From Moving In: Tales of an Unlicensed Marriage: When Scott walked into the restaurant where I was working for our prearranged meeting, I remember my eyeballs wiggling in their sockets. I put down the candlestick I was polishing and whispered to my fellow waiter, “That’s my friend Deb’s ex. Soon to be known as ‘my new husband.'”
Scott remembers seeing me walk down the staircase clad in my elegant tuxedo and instantly knew that I was the one. We said “hello” and never said goodbye.
That was twenty-one years ago today.

Life 101 – The Spartan Race
If you’ve never heard of the Spartan Race, check it out! Scott, our friend Zoey, and trainer Greg Gomez powered through 9+ miles of mountain climbing and 20 obstacles (including lake swim, 20′ rope climb, and 750′ mud crawl beneath barbed wire) to finish in 3 hours. My favorite moment was a mom & daughter team trying to get over an 8′ wall. Mom decided this obstacle was the end of the race for her, but our team stopped and helped her up and over the wall. What a metaphor for life. Everyday we encounter someone who needs a little help up… whether literally or just a smile. Offering them that might be the best part of your day, and when YOU need the hand, I KNOW it’ll be the best part of your day. Here’s to a week keeping an eye out for where you can make a difference.
Bruce in the National Enquirer!
This week I returned to New York with a slew of messages from people saying they had spotted me in the National Enquirer. I’m happy to report my inclusion was not due to a) celebrity facelifts gone awry b) cheating scandal or c) UFO abduction… but rather, how to strike gold at garage sales. The funny thing is that every person that wrote to tell me said something along the lines of “I was standing in a long checkout line…” or “I never buy it…” or “I was at my hairdressers…” Oh, come on. Let’s be honest… We are all enquiring minds. 😉
